looking through dreamwidth , trying to see if there's anyone posting house stuff ... find someone who technically is ... i'm too scared to subscribe or anything !!! the person who anon told me they were scared to make a dreamwidth because of how old the site skews was right actually . i'm like a little baby by comparison and they might explode me on sight !!!!e

That's totally okay. You can just read. Some people have a read-only account they never even post in. If you want to keep track of communities or blogs without subscribing, one way is to copy the name and URL into a document that you save. Then just copy-paste the URL into your browser when you want to read it.

This is a fairly laid-back platform. It does hold a variety of ages. If you watch for friending memes or events like snowflake_challenge, some of them ask about age which would help you find folks near yours.

newcomers has lots of resources about how to use Dreamwidth and where to find things you'll enjoy here. If you're coming from Tumblr, soc_puppet has posted tutorials for that angle. Find your Tumblr friends here.

The Follow Friday Master Post has lists of active communities by topic where you can look for some based on your interests, including some of the Most Useful Communities. Many bloggers use recurring posts to pin down their key interests and maintain activity, which is also a good source of inspiration if you aren't sure what you want to post yet.

snowflake_challenge is running in January. This is a big event with lots of activity where you can find new friends.
